Word Ministry
Tulsa Bible Church was formed in 1955 to be a body of believers that teaches God’s Word and is passionate for missions. These are still our guiding principles today. Our normal practice is to teach through the Bible verse by verse in our worship services as well as in our Sunday school classes, Men’s and Women’s Ministries, and Youth Groups. And we are actively investing ourselves in local outreach and world evangelism.
Outreach
Missions and evangelism has always been a strong priority here at TBC. We want to mobilize the TBC family to be active in outreach here in Tulsa and around the world. We invest our people and our resources to lift up the name of Christ in our community and among the nations.
Following the Acts 1:8 model, we invest ourselves in personal evangelism, ministry to internationals, and community outreach in Tulsa, our Jerusalem. We are also working to carry the gospel out to our region, our Judea and Samaria. Internationally, we are helping to carry the gospel “to the ends of the earth” through our short terms teams, the career missionaries we send out from our body, and our partnership with Christians in other nations.
Organization & Church Government
We are not organizationally related to any denomination, council, or group of churches, but we love our fellow believers in other churches and periodically cooperate with them in ministry.
We believe the Bible teaches “Elder rule” leadership where Spirit-filled, 1Timothy 3 men partner with the pastoral staff humbly to oversee and shepherd the flock of God with prayer, modeling, and teaching the Scriptures. Deacons are selected to serve under the ruling Elders. Our purpose is to have as simple an organizational structure as possible to accomplish our goal of a balanced ministry of teaching, disciple making, evangelizing, and fellowship.
Giving & Finances
We purpose to follow scripture which states that we should give as God has prospered us, not grudgingly, or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. (I Corinthians 16:2, II Corinthians 9:7). We refrain from pledges or pressure and simply make needs known to the TBC body. We then trust that the Lord works in hearts and meets those expressed needs. To support our ongoing commitment to missions and evangelism, one third of our giving goes to outreach.
Membership
Membership is open to individuals who have received the Lord Jesus Christ and who agree with the purposes and beliefs of our church. To become a member, plan to attend a series of new-member classes which are designed to orient newcomers to the basic teachings and values of Tulsa Bible Church.
