What to Expect on Sunday Morning
Tulsa Bible Church gathers on Sundays for a service of the Word. Each element of the service from prayer to song selection points us to the scripture and to our Savior. The goal of the music ministry is to create an attitude of joyful reverence in worship by sharing music together that expressively highlights God and His word. We recognize the value of time-honored hymns, more modern songs and brand new compositions for encouraging our hearts. With this in mind, our music groups are tailored to the styles of songs that we share as a body.

Varied teams of skilled musicians that we call Weekly Teams lead corporate music on Sunday mornings. While individuals serve on rotation, the groups consistently feature a full rhythm band, piano, a consort of winds and strings, and a team of vocalists. The people that serve on the Weekly Teams are volunteer church members with a heart for serving the Lord through song. We aim to present music appropriately when we share together as a congregation, meaning that if a song should feature specific instruments or styles the team is flexible to implement them. The Weekly Teams are the core of our music at TBC and serve the church by transparently creating an atmosphere of worship during our services.
The Choir contributes to Sunday morning services through anthems and hymns with the Weekly Teams or the orchestra. We are an uplifting element in seasonal programs during Christmas and Easter months. There is no skill requirement to join – the director and members of the Choir will help you learn along the way. The Choir meets on Sunday evenings from 5:00 to 6:00 in the choir room beneath the Auditorium. Come join us for fellowship through song!
Singing together is a great means of saturating our lives in God’s word. We embrace this idea wholeheartedly with our children at TBC. Children’s choirs meet on Sunday mornings during a portion of Sunday school time. We often share the songs we learn during Family Services and other special occasions throughout the year. Your child can be part of one of the following groups just by attending class on Sunday morning:
Cherub Choir (3-year-olds – Kindergarten) – Caroline Hillock & Anna Kelly
Kid’s Choir (1st Grade – 3rd Grade) – Melissa Abbott
Junior Choir (4th Grade – 6th Grade) – Valerie Goforth

The Orchestra at TBC presents preludes, postludes and anthems throughout the year on Sunday mornings in addition to playing with the Praise Teams. The group is also an integral part of the seasonal programs that take place during Easter and Christmas. Membership is comprised of musicians that represent all ages and skills, from students to retirees, from hobbyists to professionals. The Orchestra features a complement of strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion. We rehearse from 5:30 to 6:30 on Wednesday evenings in the Sanctuary. Bring your instrument for a time of camaraderie and praise!
The Handbell Choir rings in church services and at local venues to share God’s love through music. The group visits local retirement communities and adds great cheer to holiday services. The ability to read music is helpful but not necessary to join – in fact, this is a fun group for learning the basics! Rehearsal times for this season will be updated soon.
A skilled group of volunteers support the music ministry at TBC through managing the audio and video of our services. These teams care for the ‘behind-the-scenes’ elements of events throughout the church calendar. The Tech Teams facilitate the worship of God by aiding the clear delivery of His word through the use of technology. This ministry is a critical part of our corporate gatherings and we welcome members who are interested in learning more about serving in this way.
