Our Mission…
To lead and disciple students into being committed followers of Jesus Christ.
Our Purpose…
Student Ministries at Tulsa Bible Church exists to partner with parents in building relationships with students for the purpose of challenging them to “receive Christ Jesus the Lord,” to see them “continue to live in him,” and for them to be “rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith and overflowing with thankfulness.” Col. 2:6-7
The primary vehicle through which we accomplish our mission and purpose is relationships. We desire to raise up and empower adults to build loving relationships with students through which they can communicate the truths of God’s Word while offering themselves as living examples.
WHEN we meet and WHAT we do:
7th — 8th grade students normally meet in the “Hanger”
9th — 12th grade students meet in the “Filling Station”
Fuel — is a time when our student ministries gather together on Sunday mornings from 8:45am — 9:45am to get “filled up” with the Word of God and fellowship with other believers. We are intentional about celebrating the abundant life we have in Jesus Christ. We spend our time worshipping through song and looking into the word of God.
ReFuel - is a time when our student ministries gather together on Wednesday nights from 6:45pm — 8:30pm to “refuel” our tanks. For both Jr. and Sr. High, we follow along with AWANA’s curriculum for our Bible teaching and Bible memory work. Sr. High students also spend intentional time in gender grade specific small groups each week.
WHY we do, WHAT we do, WHEN we do it:
Our mission and purpose is built on the foundation of these five Core Values:
Christ ~ Community ~ Cause ~ Connecting ~ Celebration
Christ:
The chief cornerstone of our ministry will be Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:19-22). Jesus Christ should be preeminent in all that we do. We want students to have an understanding of who Jesus is, what He did, and why He wants them to continue to live in Him.
Community:
Living in a Biblical community with each other should be a significant aspect of our Christian lives. We break up into gender grade specific small groups composed of up to ten students and a caring mentor with a heart for ministry. Small groups are intentional efforts to create an atmosphere conducive for students to grow in truth, relationships, and accountability. Truth comes from the study of the Word of God. Relationships come from spending time with peers and a mentor; this time allows students to receive intimate care, encouragement, prayer and support within the large group of TBC Student Ministries. Accountability comes from building authentic and genuine relationships with each other on the small group level.
Cause:
Serving others should be an integral part of our lives as Christians. The service aspect of TBC Student Ministries provides opportunities for students to serve Christ within the body of TBC, in the local community of Tulsa, the United States and internationally. Service enables students to be equipped for ministry while they experience God working through them.
Connecting:
TBC Student Ministry events remove students from their daily routine in order for them to have an out of the ordinary experience in the context of Christ-centered truth and relationships. These experiences deepen relationships, communicate truth, attract new students, and provide opportunities for life change and life experience. They also allow us to just plain have FUN!!! (…which, of course, deepens relationships).
TBC Student Ministry experiences can be categorized into 3 types:
Large — any activity that includes all members of either the Junior High or Senior High ministry…i.e. camps, retreats, outreach events, service projects, etc.
Medium — a more concentrated group focusing on an activity with limited enrollment…i.e. mission trips, grade distinctive events, service projects, etc.
Small — an activity that is attended by a very limited number of students such as one or two small groups and is not promoted to all TBC Students…i.e. small group bowling night, small group service projects, small group camp-outs etc.
Celebration:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! As believers in Jesus Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit, we should live joyfully abundant lives in Him. In all things our students should see and experience that a life in Christ is the best life to live.
